When Obama said ‘I can’t have’ Obama said he could have stopped the Iran deal, but not now
The president said Wednesday that he can’t make a deal with Iran that “would prevent” it from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
During an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” Obama was asked if he could stop the Iran nuclear deal if he had to.
Obama responded: “If I had to, I would.
I have the authority to do that.”
I can.
I think we need to make sure that the deal that we have is not just one that, if we could, we could do.
But we need some checks and balances.
And I’m going to do them, but they have to be, you know, with the president’s consent.
And I think that we’re going to have to work with Congress.
